Moving land lines - AT&T Land lines

My wife works from home and we have three land lines into the house, a home number, her work number and her fax number. For twenty years we have had the same numbers for all of these lines. We recently moved 4 miles from our original home in the Atlanta area and when we arrived at the new home, my wife's admin was informed that ALL THREE NUMBERS HAD BEEN CHANGED. None of us were informed that this was going to happen. I then started to work the customer service lines, and work, and work and work. I spoke with around 9 different individuals and got different stories from each of them. Finally, a customer service rep told me that when we moved, we moved from one dispatch office to another and since 911 is linked to those offices for land lines, the numbers had to change, and that it was impossible to get the numbers moved to the new address. Then I started to look for a workaround. I was sent to the business department, who didn't understand why I was sent there. I was sent to two different customer service reps who killed the call when they found out what I was calling about. Then, again, after about 5 attempts, I found a service person who suggested that we put permanent call forwarding onto our new lines. That way, anyone calling the old number would be immediately forwarded to the new number. Solution! I said do it, and they said it would take about 24 hours. 24 hours later it wasn't done. I called in again and the customer service person had no record of the request, so she escalated it and resubmitted. 24 hours later it still wasn't done. The customer service person checked and said it was pending. 24 hours later, I called in again, and was told that the numbers that had been submitted had been incorrect and that we need to resubmit. Finally 48 hours or so after the last call, the forwarding was correctly in place for all three numbers.

And then, we received a notice that this call forwarding service would cost $19.50 per month per line. So, my numbers were changed without notice, customer service failed time after time, and finally when the problem was resolved I have the privilege of adding about $60 a month to my phone bill.

I have never, ever been so disappointed in a company's product and service.
